Our Perfect Pangarau ( Maths )

This week in Te Ngahere we have been learning about graphs and before we even did the graphs we had to do tables and collect data to create the graphs. I have been having a lot of fun. We have to be in a group and my group is Angela and Jade R. We have to notice things in a graph and we have to make a slideshow. My group has done a lot of work. The easiest part about this activity is noticing everything and we had to make a slideshow, the hardest part about this is finding an I wonder question. Have you ever used a graph before ?

Have you ever made a weather report in Te Reo Māori before?

Our Energetic Cross Country

On the last day of term three we did Cross Country at Bledisloe and I was so excited. There was so many things to do and eat. The year sixes had to wait for 12 groups of people until our turn. It was so hard because we had to run around the field and then we had to run up this big hill and we had to run back down and run to the finish line, Unfortunately, I came second to last but when I got to the finish line I went straight to the juicy stall. The reason why I got a juicy was because it was so HOT! But it was super fun. Did you do Cross Country ?

The Energetic Cricket Lesson

Today, we had someone come in to teach us how to play cricket. We had to be in pairs and my partner was Mahana. One person had the bat and the balls and had to hit the balls to the other person on the other side. The man that was teaching us was named Neil. After we practiced with the bat and the ball we played a quick cricket game, half of the group had to hit the ball and the other half had to catch the ball and I was hitting the ball with the bat. I learnt a lot about cricket and how to play cricket. It was hard because I couldn’t hit the ball but the easy part was catching the ball. Do you like cricket ?

My Fabulous Holidays

On the last day of term three my family and I went away to Auckland for my uncles birthday. The first thing we did was go see my family and then we went to watch my uncle bungee jump off the Harbour bridge. Later that night all the adults went to Spookers Haunted Attraction while my sister, aunty and I waited in the car. Spookers used to be a mental hospital and you go inside and there are lots of people dressed in spooky costumes scaring you, I could hear them screaming from the car, it’s that scary! Our trip was so much fun. What did you do in the holidays ?

Chrome Music Lab That I Absolutely Love!!!

For the past two weeks in Te Ngahere we have been making music by using this app called Chrome Music Lab. It’s a lot of fun because there is a whole bunch of music you can make like the bass sounds, songs and a lot more. Right now we are making songs and mine is based on the Don’t Forget Your Roots - Māori version by Six60, it is coming together and it sounds great and the first thing we had to do was break the song up into beats and instruments and then re-make the song. The hard part was making the right sounds and the easy part was using the tools to create the sounds. Have you made music before ?

Facts About My Maths DLO

In Te Ngahere we were making a maths DLO. We had to describe what we were learning and what type of maths it was. The type of maths that my group and I  were learning was finding the equivalent fraction. Some parts were hard because they had bigger fractions and you had to times it by three and some parts were easy because you only had to times it by two and the fractions were smaller. Making the DLO was hard because I did not know what to explain. My friends helped me by showing me what they explained and they gave me some ideas. Hope you like my maths DLO. Enjoy! Do you like maths?

Our Mind Blowing Creations For Whaea Becks

In Te Ngahere we have been making cards for Whaea Becks, she is one of the teachers that was in my class but she went on holiday for the year. She had a bit of an accident while snowboarding in the South Island and broke her pelvis that is her hip bone, she’s a bit better now and she just got off her crutches. Now we’re making creative things for her because we thought it would be kind. We had an option of making an animation, poster, mosaic art or a slideshow. I made two gifts because I thought it would be a super kind thing to do. I made one mosaic art and one poster, they look really  amazing and I hope she is going to love them! Have you made something for your teacher before?

In my group I have my two friends Ayanda and Yazmin we had to make our rocket two times because the first one was leaking water so it couldn’t launch and that was really disappointing. Then we modified our rocket so we made another one and that one worked so much better then the first one. Then we went outside and launched it and it flew so high and super fast compared to the other one. Have you ever launched a rocket before ?

Our Fantastic Te Reo Māori

In Te Ngahere we have been learning to read a book that we have to pronounce Te Reo Maori words in. The title of the pukapuka ( book ) is called Ngā Mahi Pārekareka Kei Te Marae ( Fun At The Marae ). We are going to be reading the Māori version to the younger Tamariki ( children ) and they are going to read the english version. The  hard thing to do was pronouncing some of the Te Reo Māori words and the easy thing to do  was reading the words that I already knew and that helped me translate the sentences in english. Have you ever read a book in Māori before?

The Fun Last Day

On the last day of term 2 we had an amazing day, we watched a movie and we did some art that was based on Matariki. The movie we watched was called Coco and it was about a boy called Miguel who went into the land of the dead and he met his family that  died before he was even born. The art was super fun because we got to do feathers and we had four options and two of my friends and I did the one with the most detail  it was super fun we had to write our goals at the back of our feather and we are going to make a korowai out of them and everyone is doing a feather or two. What did you do on the last day of term 2 ?

Te Ngaheres Amazing Tik Tok

On Friday last week it was our assembly and at our assembly we did two Tik tok dances and we combined the two together. We practiced the tik tok for about two weeks the first Tik tok that we practiced was by Jawsh 685 and I learnt it very quick, the second Tik tok was super easy and it is by Chris Brown and it is called Take You Down. We had to memorise both tik toks for one whole week but I remembered it easily. It was super fun and it was nothing I have ever done before. I hope we can do some more and it could be a Tik tok or a different dance. The thing that was easy was leaning the dances and the thing that was hardest was dancing to the song . Do you know any Tik tok dances?

Our Incredible Kindness to Our Kaumatua and Kui

This week in class we have been making kindness letters to our Kaumatua and Kuia. We had a Success criteria to follow and we had to put the date on it, then we had to write an introduction and the introduction was about ourselves but not to much about ourselves, next we had to write another paragraph about what you did in lockdown, then the last paragraph was giving kind words and talking about how covid-19 affected you. Then all of the letters got sent to the Kaumatua and Kuia and I hope the person that my letter got sent to was very happy to know that younger kids care about older people. Have you done a kindness letter ?
